The Western Pennsylvania Council of Teachers of English (WPCTE), a fifty year old affiliate of the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), is dedicated to the professional development of area English/Language Arts teachers, K - College. With over 1800 members, WPCTE membership is free.

We now publish, beginning in the fall of 2005, our newsletter on line. Once called "The Notebook," it will now be known as E-Notes. It will inform our membership of upcoming events sponsored by both WPCTE and NCTE as well as provide links to interesting, important and helpful information for the classroom teacher.

In the spring of each year, WPCTE sponsors an English Festival for area students, grades 4 - 12. Over 2000 students from over 70 area schools participate. Further details are provided on this website.
